Ways to Volunteer
Building Peaceful Bridges (BPB) has many volunteer opportunities in various roles. Volunteering for BPB allows you to support our mission and helps you develop, enhance, or maintain your business skill set.
We aim to provide our volunteers with ways to connect with one another building community, to provide networking opportunities, and to see the collective impact of the BPB volunteer team working together to make our country a more welcoming place for refugees. Grants Researcher
Building Peaceful Bridges is seeking volunteers to support Grant Research and writing! This virtual role is perfect for students, retirees, or anyone with an interest in grant research and grant writing. The Volunteer Grant Researcher would fulfill an important role as Building Peaceful Bridges pursues grant funding for our organization. The individual will provide essential research to aid in the achievement of our grant-funding goal. The volunteer will interact with the Grants Team Leader and President.
Knowledge, skills and experience
- No experience needed, just the willingness to learn. All that’s required from you is your time and effort.
- Grant applications are open for a specified timeframe so a commitment to complete the research by a mutually agreed upon deadline is critical. There will not be last minute requests.
- Familiarity with Grant Station a plus, but not needed.
- Access to a computer is required.
- Goal driven, ability to self-motivate, stay on task and work independently.
- Strong time-management, organizational and internet research skills a must.

Where/When
This opportunity is remote (meaning you can work from wherever) and you can lend your support however it works for your schedule, depending on your interests and time commitment.
Time Commitment: Flexible, 4 – 8 hours per month. Complete grants research when you want. Grants team Zoom meeting 1 hour per month, date and time TBD.
Role responsibilities
- Research and identify available and applicable grants.
- Research, retrieval and assembly of background materials for grant proposals.
Support
Training and resources will be provided.
Website Support
Volunteer Position: Website Support & Content Coordinator
Organization: Building Peaceful Bridges
Time Commitment: Flexible, approximately 2-3 hours per week.
About Us:
Building Peaceful Bridges is a nonprofit dedicated to welcoming and supporting newcomers as they rebuild their lives in the U.S. We provide mentorship, education, and community programs that foster understanding and belonging.
Position Overview:
We are looking for a volunteer with strong WordPress skills to assist with the redesign, upkeep, and ongoing improvement of our website. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys both the technical and creative aspects of web management and wants to make a meaningful impact by helping us communicate our mission more effectively.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with our team to plan and implement a refreshed website design.
- Update and maintain website content, including text, images, and multimedia.
- Ensure that all pages are functioning properly and troubleshoot technical issues.
- Support SEO best practices for improved search visibility.
Qualifications:
- Solid working knowledge of WordPress.
- Experience with Divi (by Elegant Themes) strongly preferred.
- Comfortable with light HTML/CSS adjustments (preferred but not required).
- Strong attention to detail and a good design eye.
- Ability to work independently and communicate effectively.
