Lexy believes this is a critical time to support newcomers, more now than ever. She is Volunteer Coordinator at Building Peaceful Bridges, where she started as a volunteer herself, a few years ago. She grew into this staff role, recruiting and welcoming new volunteers to the organization who share a similar passion. With over 25 years of experience in the non-profit and academic administration sectors, her expertise lies in volunteer management, as well as in community building, friendraising, event planning, and programming. She is a planner at heart and has enjoyed her previous roles at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC), WorldChicago and Northwestern University. She has a B.A. from the University of Iowa., where she majored in Communications and Spanish, and studied abroad in Seville, Spain.

Throughout her career, Lexy has maintained a close connection to international affairs and cross-cultural communication. Driven by a love of different cultures, languages, and travel, she enjoys meeting people from all over the world! She is motivated in her current role to fill all volunteer gaps, so that BPB families have the support that they need!

Practicing what she preaches, Lexy is a volunteer herself! She is a volunteer and board member at the Skokie animal rescue, C.A.R.E., Community Animal Rescue Effort. She resides in Wilmette with her husband and beloved rescue hound/pittie mix.
