Catholic Charities

For more than 40 years, Catholic Charities has helped refugees from around the world to call Chicago home. Each year, we resettle around 200 refugees who have been forced to flee their homelands due to war, terror, and persecution. Through our comprehensive case management, job development, and K-12 services–and with the invaluable assistance of our volunteers and community partners–we accompany our refugee clients as they transition to their new life in the U.S. and move towards self-sufficiency.

Refugee Action Network

(Formerly Golden Door Coalition)

Refugee Action Network is a statewide advocacy coalition supporting the social integration of refugees in Illinois through public policy and community education. Their work focuses on communication, education, and advocacy to advance their collective vision. They are committed to strengthening refugee families, creating welcoming communities, and celebrating the resilience, and unique value refugees contribute to our nation.

As the largest resettlement agency in Illinois, RefugeeOne has welcomed more than 18,000 refugees since 1982. RefugeeOne walks alongside refugees from the moment they land at O’Hare International Airport—welcoming them to Chicago and providing furnished apartments, English classes, job search support, mental health care, youth programming, and mentors to help them adjust to life in the U.S.

Every year, RefugeeOne serves more than 2,500 refugees and immigrants of all ages, ethnic groups, faiths, and backgrounds. Our primary focus is to assist these resilient individuals in becoming an independent, self-supporting member of their new community.

COMPASS – Community Partnerships for Settlement Strategies – is a public charity that works to design effective approaches in support of the long-term well being of refugees and asylees. COMPASS does this through direct support and collaboration with community partners, employers and local government, providing resources and opportunities that support the attainment of education and skills training into living wage career pathways.
