Kevin Harvey brings more than 40 years of experience in communications, education, technology, media, and nonprofit leadership to Building Peaceful Bridges. 

Kevin’s career has included leadership roles in learning and technology, radio and television, online graduate business education, public affairs, and digital marketing. He has taught mathematics at the secondary and college levels, including to American military personnel in Germany. While living in Germany, he started “Kevin’s Cookies,” where he was the first American to produce and sell Chocolate Chip cookies there. Kevin has also worked extensively in documentary filmmaking that tell the stories of refugees and newcomers.

Across these varied roles, he has remained interested in the same basic question: how can we use communication, education, and technology to help people understand one another and navigate an increasingly complex world?

Kevin believes that sharing the experiences of newcomers—and creating opportunities for people from different backgrounds to meet and learn from one another—is one of the most powerful ways to build understanding and a genuine sense of belonging.

Kevin holds an M.A. in Communication from the University of Illinois Chicago and a B.S. in Mathematics from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. He is active in his community and has served as President of Go Green Glencoe and Co-Chair of the Glencoe Caucus.
