Call to Action: Bilingual Book Project

BPB is pleased to partner with children’s book author, Elaine Harrison, to bring 3,600 books to migrant children in Chicago. Elaine Harrison’s books have been praised by leading educators and organizations  from throughout the country, including The National Kindergarten Association and  the Superintendent of Chicago Catholic Schools. These books were professionally  translated by a native speaker/bilingual educator and were edited by Dr. Susan Polansky, Chair of the Department of Modern Languages at Carnegie Mellon University

Chicago is in the midst of a humanitarian crisis. As a designated Sanctuary City, Chicago has welcomed more than 40,000 asylum seekers. Most are from Spanish speaking countries throughout Central and South America. The City, along with Building Peaceful Bridges (BPB) and other nonprofits, is providing food, shelter, and clothing. Now, to lift spirits, relieve boredom and bring the joy of reading to migrant children, BPB is providing Elaine Harrison’s wonderful bilingual books to them. Will you join us?
